Bond Estates Peaking Plant

Project Overview

Bond Estates is a 6MW peaking plant, developed by Gridsource from first principles.

During the development phase, Gridsource managed all aspects such as site identification, landowner engagement, grid connection feasibility, engagement including application, land/ legal agreements, planning survey / application co-ordination plus community engagement, which resulted in receiving full planning approval during 2016.

Once planning was granted, Gridsource managed the tender phase with approved and accredited suppliers / contractors alongside discharging any pre-commencement planning conditions. The Peaking Plant operational since 2018.

The project operates under a trading model, buying gas and selling electricity into the grid, and looks to maximise its income via Capacity Market agreements and other similar type subsidy arrangements which Gridsource oversee in our role as long term Asset manager for the plant.

Balancing Systems

The peaker can also provide balancing services to the local distribution network. If they require more capacity at times of need, then projects such as Bond Estates will be called upon to provide this electricity and can achieve full generation output within 2 minutes of receiving a remotely operated despatch to start signal to the grid when required.
